If you travel in and out of London on a regular basis, it is very likely that, at some time, you will arrive at Waterloo Station to catch or get off a train. In fact, even if you are a tourist, the station is one of the popular destinations as it is world-renowned. I had no idea that car parks could be so different. I have always thought that they were dark dismal places, especially ones at stations but I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Waterloo Station car park to collect a rental car from there. It was bright and airy and very clean and tidy which made it much more pleasant. There was no rubbish around, the floors were clean and there was really good lighting. There also seemed to be more space to move around than there is in some car parks. There was no worry about hitting cars or pillars when getting in spaces, tight corners or awkward one way systems.

It was odd because the fact that it was pleasant seemed to make it a much better atmosphere to be in. Normally I find car parks rather claustrophobic and dark and dreary and so it puts me in a bad mood when driving around them. This one was completely different and I noticed that the driving seemed better, I didn’t get cross with anyone and the people that I spoke to as I walked from my space seemed much happier and friendlier. It just shows how important our environment is on our frame of mind. It almost makes me feel like writing to local councils and asking them to try to make all car parks like this, especially newly built ones as it would certainly attract people to use them and may even make more people want to visit the particular town.
